“This is a multi-national and multi-racial college,” said Dato’ Norhishamuddin Yaacob. With that in mind, KYP Student Development Center (SDC) in collaboration with Student Representative Council (SRC) organized KYP Chinese New Year Celebration 2018 on 28th February 2018.
The celebration started with a visit to Rumah Orang Tua Gabungan Persatuan Tionghua at Jalan Bukit Ubi, Kuantan. The purpose of the visit is to share the joy of celebrating Chinese New Year with the old folks. The visit was participated by KYP Management Team.
In the evening, the celebration continued at KYP Residential College Tanjung Lumpur. More than 200 people including students, parents, staff, school counselors and corporate organizations gathered and participated in the celebration. Also present were YH Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker, KYP Board of Director, YH Dato’ Andrew Wong Kean Hwee, Special Officer to MCA President, YBhg. Miss Tee Choon Ser, Counsilor, Kuantan Municipal Council, and YBhg. Mr Quek Tai Seong.
KYP Chinese New Year was celebrated with the hope of a great new year for everyone including those people in need. Thus, contributions were given to KYP Chinese students who require some assistance from the college. Apart from that, KYP also invited children from Rapha Children’s Home to share the joys of celebrating Chinese New Year. The children were also brought to Bata for their Chinese New Year new shoes.
“This is not a Malay college, this is not a Chinese college, and this is not an Indian college. This is a multi-racial and multi-national college, this is where local and international students gather for the common interest of education,” said Dato’ Norhishamuddin Yaacob, KYP Managing Director. He also added that, despite the differences, whether races, religion, or culture, we are still one big family.
“I believe that unity is important. Despite differences of races, religion or culture, KYP still maintain the unity among them. I am much honored to be invited to join the Chinese New Year celebration,” said YH Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker.
Prosperity Toss ‘Yee sang’ also held with wishes for a great year with abundance luck and happiness for all. Lion dance and firecracker marked the end of KYP Chinese New Year.
