UCYP Collaborates with Four Asean Universities

UCYP waves the Malaysian flag with pride when the university spreads its wings through academic and research collaborations with four (4) ASEAN universities, namely Politeknik Negeri Malang, Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Medan, Universitas Bengkulu, Indonesia, and Petchaburi Rajabhat University, Thailand in an MoU signing ceremony recently.

The signing ceremony was held at Pahang State Foundation Complex, and was officiated by the UCYP Chairman, Board of Governors, YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nor and approximately 200 guests including UCYP academicians and students.

The signing of the MoU was an initiative to further strengthen the university’s global networking in order to enhance its international brand presence while making a significant impact on the international collaboration via rigorous activities on education, research, conference as well as publication.

Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Noorul Ainur Mohd Nor in her speech, stated that UCYP is very proud of the collaboration with the ASEAN universities such as Indonesia and Thailand. The MoU this time around can provide a clear guide to cooperation and commitment efforts that leverages on intellectual capital, expertise, resources and capacity in the development of vision and strategy.

Therefore, Research Management Centre (RMC) under the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industry Linkages & Research Development) office, has assumed a role in establishing international cooperation among universities from ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Singapore and the Philippines.

Through this collaboration, UCYP will lead on research and publishing partnerships as well as strengthening bilateral education endeavours through the student mobility activities, lecture exchanges and international educational workshops.

In addition to that, with fully equipped facilities and new academic building in Tanjung Lumpur Main Campus, fortified with an arsenal of academicians possessing Master’s degree and Doctorate credentials, UCYP is better prepared to explore more international collaboration opportunities.

During the ceremony, UCYP also hosted the 1st Southeast Asia Academic Leaders Forum 2019 that focused on education and community issues in Southeast Asian countries with the theme “Sustainable Rural Development Through Education and Societal Innovation”.
UCYP Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad bin Haji Zainuddin also delivered a keynote address during the event, highlighting the present scenario and challenges on global rural development sustainability.

Among the panelists involved in the forum were, Asst. Prof. Abdullah Helmy, Expert Staff at the Vice Director Office (International Collaboration), Politeknik Negeri Malang, Indonesia, Dr. Syahrial, Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Universitas Bengkulu, Indonesia, Dr. Poonsiri Thipnate, Dean of Science & Technology Faculty, Petchburi Rajabhat University, Thailand, Dr. Thatsanaphan Phaisannan Director of Language Competency Centre and International Affairs Office, Phetchaburi Rajabhat University, Thailand and Suhaila Mukhtar, Vice President of UCYP Branding & Corporate Communication as the moderator.
