Another Initiative on Digital Talent: Strategies for Growth

University College of Yayasan Pahang (UCYP) has hosted the National Conference on Digital Talent: Strategies For Growth at the Lecture Theater, UCYP Main Campus, Tanjung Lumpur.

The two-day conference was initiated by the Official Representative to YAB Pahang Chief Minister, YH Dato’ Mahmud Mohd Nawawi who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Pahang.

This conference was a brainchild of the UCYP Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr Ahmad Bin Hj. Zainuddin who is very persistent in accommodating the university and the community around with the updates on the growth of digital talent. The National Conference on Digital Talent was successfully organized by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) Office, intended as an intellectual discourse platform for exchanging ideas and sharing of information with regards to the challenges and the current growth of digital talent.

This program is viewed as an enabler for strengthening and expanding the communication among industries, educational sectors, administrators, policy makers, researchers, as well as the community. It was found that, the participants have a great access to various opportunities for smart collaborations in either research, academic publication or other academic activities.

According to YH Dato’ Mahmud, “Pahang State is working with partners around Malaysia as well as International partners to ensure that we can leverage these new digital technologies to boost productivity, enhance economic inclusion and promote innovation”. Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of UCYP highlighted the fact that by being adaptive, the university is developing in line with the technology evolution. As a result,   “UCYP is developing a digital mindset workforce and thus, generating more digital talents who can contribute globally”.

The topics listed for the conference are Academics, Research, Development, Students, Human Resources and Administration. A total of five (5) public and private universities  participated in the national conference; they are Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), International Islamic University Malaysia (UIA), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Cosmopoint and UCYP, where approximately 130 participants, with 16 paperwork presenters and three panelists, highlighted the perspectives and challenges of the digital talent.

The invited panellists were Mr. Ikhwan Nazri (Chief Executive Officer / Amanz Media Creative Head), Mr. Ibrahim Fikry (Chief Technical Officer, Design), Dr. Gan Leong Ming (Program Head, E-Learning for UMP Advanced).

During the conference, three best presenters were also celebrated by UCYP. It was selected based on the criteria fulfilled during the presentations.

IIUM participants won the best presenter awards, via Mohd Nazriq Noor Ahmad with his research presentation entitled “Implementation in A tertiary-level Education Setting” and Shamsuddin Abdullah who presented “Pre-University Students’ Feedback on The Use of QR Codes”. The third place was awarded to Nur Atirah Mohd Jalil, UCYP lecturer, with the paper title “Application of Kahoot for Improving Collaboration and Engagement.”

During the event, UCYP has launched five (5) new undergraduate programs which are Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.), Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Hons.), Bachelor of Islamic Management Halal Business Services (Hons.), Bachelor of Visual Arts in Creative Design (Hons.) and Bachelor of Software Engineering (Hons.).
