A hi-tea and a fashion show event were held by University College Yayasan Pahang (UCYP) at the Aqua Crystal Hall, UCYP Main Campus, Tanjung Lumpur on Thursday, 30th January 2020.

The event was officiated by Yang Amat Berbahagia Datin Sri Dato’ Burhah Binti Mohammed, who led the Persatuan Amal Isteri Wakil Rakyat Pahang (TERATAI). Nearly 250 guests were in attendance for the event including fashion designers from all around Kuantan and well-known fashion designer, Mr. Salikin Sidek. Also present during the event was UCYP Vice Chancellor, Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bin Haji Zainuddin with his wife.

The fashion show event which was themed Traditional Modern was held in collaboration with five (5) wedding boutiques all across Kuantan such as, Exotic Collection, Ujies Collection, Malaque Bridal House, Adamaya Collection and Adlyana Bridal Collection. At the same time, the famous fashion designer, Salikin Sidek’s traditional styled fashion collection was also showcased to the guests at the event.

This fashion show event can be seen as UCYP’s effort in introducing a new Diploma program which is the Diploma in Fashion Design that will begin its first enrolment in June 2020.

The fashion revolution which has grown through the passage of time has sparked a new phenomenon amongst the newer generation mainly teenagers. Thus, this kind of initiative enables the program to position the fashion industry among the current market.

During the event, Yang Amat Berbahagia Datin Sri Dato’ Burhah Binti Mohammed in her speech, emphasized that this event offers the golden opportunity to unleash new talents in designing and modelling. Furthermore, this program could also unify the community and simultaneously bring the local fashion industry to the global scale by producing successful entrepreneurs who are innovative, creative and competitive in the fashion scene.

She also stated, “The fashion scene does not just benefit those who are in the fashion designing industry but also to the community itself by opening job opportunities.”

Aside from that, this event was also held in order to promote the facilities that are available at UCYP especially the Aqua Crystal Hall that has the potential to house wedding ceremonies. To promote the Aqua Crystal hall, UCYP introduced two (2) wedding packages as low as RM19,888 for the Gold Package and RM22,288 for the Platinum Package. In her speech, Yang Amat Berbahagia Datin Sri Dato’ Burhah Binti Mohammed stated that this is an opportunity for the community to enjoy the benefits of utilizing the facilities of Aqua Crystal Hall at an affordable price.
