COVID 19: Postponement of the UCYP Convocation

It was an unfortunate turn of event when University College of Yayasan Pahang (UCYP) made the tough decision to postpone the UCYP Convocation and 28 Year Celebration which was scheduled to be held on 15th February 2020 at Bukit Gambang Resort.

The decision was made following the advice issued from the Ministry of Health (MOH) following the latest development and updates regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak that has been spreading at an alarming rate throughout the world.

The chief of the event committee, Mr Jalaluddin bin Abdullah, in his statement said that the event was supposed to be officiated by Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Binti Almarhum AlMutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj who is also the UCYP Chancellor, but due to the outbreak, it had to be postponed to a later date.

He also stated that the health of all parties should be given priority as the program was attended by over 2,000 guests including 869 graduates, family members and UCYP staff.

He said that despite all the preparations, the organizers had to comply with the directives and orders issued by MOH and the Prime Minister, who ordered all events and ceremonies  involving gatherings of people to be postponed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

“On behalf of the organizer of the UCYP 28-Year Celebration and Convocation Ceremony, I would like to sincerely apologize, given the delay in the program announced at the last minute as we do not expect such things to happen when all parties are ready with the preparations.”

“The Convocation Program that was anticipated by each of the graduates will be held after the situation has improved and with the approval of the MOH, the secretariat will contact all the graduates,” ending his statement.

To avoid the outbreak from worsening it is hoped that we will stand together and do our parts by following the precaution guide issued by MOH. It is also advised to continue to monitor the DEVELOPMENT of COVID-19 outbreak from time to time as well as obtain accurate information on the current development of COVID-19 from MOH’s website. moh.gov.my
