Exploring Strategic Partnership: UCYP University Delegation’s Visit to the National Archives of Malaysia (Arkib Negara Malaysia)

On February 6, 2024, a delegation from UCYP University embarked on a significant visit to the National Archives of Malaysia (Arkib Negara Malaysia – ANM), located at Wisma Warisan, Arkib Negara Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Led by the Vice-Chancellor of UCYP University and accompanied by key officials, the delegation engaged in discussions aimed at fostering long-term strategic initiatives, particularly focusing on joint projects and research in strategic leadership.

Among the UCYP representatives present were the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Li Pin, Director of Tun Ghazali Shafie Institute for Strategic Leadership (TGS-ISL); Puan Suhaila Hj. Mukhtar, and Chief Digital Officer; Ts. Suriyani Sulaiman. Welcoming the delegation from UCYP University were the esteemed team from the National Archives of Malaysia, led by En. Mokhtaruddin bin Lamsin, Deputy Director-General for Research and Development Sector; En. Ahmad Sukri bin Abdul Kadir, Director of the Research Management and Documentation Division; and En. Mohd Nasir bin Ismail, Director of the Development Division.

The primary objective of the visit was to introduce and highlight the capabilities of Tun Ghazali Shafie Institute for Strategic Leadership. With a vision to become a catalyst for cultivating global recognized leaders and intellectual pioneers in high-impact leadership, the Institute’s initiatives were presented to the National Archives team.

Additionally, discussions revolved around the collaboration in terms of materials related to Tun Ghazali Shafie, both in softcopy (via a link between the National Archives and UCYP University’s Library) and hardcopy formats. Potential cooperation in the research field was also explored during the meeting.

Furthermore, the National Archives representatives provided valuable insights, suggesting notable figures for potential interviews to gather further information about Tun Ghazali Shafie or King Ghaz. The visit included tours of archive departments and informative briefings.

As a token of appreciation, souvenirs were presented and exchanged between the National Archives of Malaysia and UCYP University, symbolizing gratitude for future collaboration and mutual support.

Overall, the visit marked a significant step towards fostering collaboration between UCYP University and the National Archives of Malaysia, paving the way for future endeavors in  shared programs, knowledge exchange,research and leadership growth.
